Michaele F. Chappell is Professor of Mathematical Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University where her research focuses on mathematics achievement for African American learners and integrating the arts into STEM learning.
She is the coauthor of Math, Culture, and Popular Media, which focuses on using media, games, and literature to engage middle grades students in authentic math learning experiences. Michaele is also the author of numerous publications related to African American students' mathematics achievement, as well as teacher preparation and professional development.
