Speaker Profile
Kara Pranikoff has cultivated a robust instructional life in New York City. She has spent years as a classroom teacher in a public school known throughout the region for its inquiry-based learning and integrative social studies curricula. Across two decades she also had the privilege to learn and lead in many capacities: a reading interventionist; a school-based Literacy Coach; a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisor; and an adjunct instructor at Bank Street College of Education. She has been a consultant and speaker at schools around the country and has led workshops at NCTE and ILA conventions.
Kara's book, Teaching Talk: A Practical Guide to Fostering Student Thinking and Conversation, shares ways to foster productive and independent student discussions in elementary and middle school classrooms.
