Ruth Straus Gainer is currently a visual arts teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland where she has been a teacher and teacher trainer for over twenty years. Ms Gainer earned an A.B. in fine arts at Barnard College and an M.A. in art education from the University of Maryland. She has been a visiting teacher in Japan and Israel and has lectured widely at colleges and universities in this country and abroad. She has written numerous articles and contributed to research in art education and child development.
