Permissions Request

Permission is authorization to make a copy (printed or electronic) of material that is protected by copyright. Examples of copying, for which permission is required, include photocopying, republishing printed works, or posting material to a web page. Permission is usually granted with a number of conditions and often includes a fee.

To find out who owns the copyright for a particular work, consult the copyright page in the work as well as any acknowledgements. Often copyright is held by the author of the work and permissions are handled for them by their publisher, who should also be listed on the copyright page. If you have a photocopy that does not contain a copyright notice, refer to an original copy of the work.

All requests to reprint from Heinemann, firsthand and/or Boynton/Cook publications must be submitted in writing to the Heinemann Permissions Department. Please complete the following request form as thoroughly as possible. Requests may be submitted by fax, email, or postal service.

Permission requests are processed in the order they are received. Please allow at least two weeks for copy requests and four weeks for reprint requests. Please note that supplying incomplete information may result in delays in processing your request.
