Our Intermediate school district is telling us that running records are not research based assessments and that the interventions we use from the F&P Phonics books (sorting, high frequency word activities, etc) are not research based. They want us to do Language! interventions. They would love to see us move from balanced literacy to a basal reading program for our core curriculum. Help!
I have asked for their source of "research based" interventions and have not seen it yet.
Thank you in advance for any information you can give me to support the best practices we use.
