Carol B. Hillman spent more than twenty years in the classroom and has been an educational consultant, an adjunct professor of early childhood education at Westchester Community College, and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Bank Street College of Education. She lives part time in western Massachusetts, where she cares for hundred-year-old McIntosh trees and produces sun-cooked strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry preserves.
She is the author of two previous books: Teaching Four Year Olds (1989) and Before the School Bell Rings (1995).
